In her upcoming showcase at the Griffin Museum of Photography, American artist Jennifer Georgescu explores the profound transformation and challenges inherent in the experience of motherhood. Her relationship with her own child merely serves as a representative reference as she investigates this universal theme: her images veer between reality and fiction, prompting the viewer to ponder this most elementary aspect of being human in their own individual way.
Jennifer Georgescu’s work focuses on the differences and correlations between human instincts and societal structures. With references to her background in painting, she utilises medium format film photography, installations and digital technology to explore dualisms found in mythology, language and relationships.
