WestLicht Photographica Auction

March 20, 2014

On March 21 and 22, the 10th photo and 25th camera auctions will take place in Vienna
Over 200 photographs, including many icons and valuable examples of photos from the early days of the medium, will be sold to the highest bidder at the 10th WestLicht Photo Auction, on March 21.

One of the highlights is traditionally dedicated to classic reportage photography connected to Magnum; but photo books are also well represented once more with rare copies such as a signed, first-edition of Photographs by Man Ray 1920-1934 Paris (1934) and William Klein's New York (1956).

This year it is a Hasselblad camera that is the main focus of the 25th camera auction. The Hasselblad LUNAR MODULE PILOT CAMERA Jim Irwin - Apollo 15 was one of a total of 14 cameras that were taken to the moon as part of the Apollo 11 to 17 missions; but, it was only this camera, used by Jim Irwin during NASA's fourth Apollo mission from July 26 to August 7, 1971, that actually returned from the moon.
