WestLicht, a show case for photography in Vienna, will be holding its 23rd camera auction on May 25, 2013. According to the auctioneers, the “Leica III Mod. F LUXUS ‘Karl Henkell’” is one of the absolute highlights of the auction. It is a unique piece of equipment, an original Leitz Luxury Leica III with gold plating and brown reptile skin, as well as two gold-plated lenses (a Summar 2/5cm, and an Elmar 3.5/3.5cm ). The estimated price lies between 250,000 and 300,000 euros. The starting price is 150,000 euros.

This special Leica model comes from the estate of German industrial business man Karl Henkell, who took photographs with the camera up until 1944.

Interested parties can see the whole range of items up for auction at the on-line catalogue. The catalogue itself will be available four weeks before the auction.
