Taschen Publishing have released a SUMO-sized photo book by photography legend Annie Leibovitz
When Benedikt Taschen approached the most important portrait photographer of our time with the idea of publishing a SUMO format photo book, she met the challenge with great delight. The project took several years to complete, with Leibovitz making her selection from a body of work that spans over four decades. The result is an astounding collection of works ranging from her early reportages for Rolling Stone magazine to the elaborately stylised portrait and cover photos for Vanity Fair or Vogue.

Two highly symbolic images form the bookends of this extraordinary publication: the black and white photograph of Richard Nixon's helicopter lifting off from the White House lawn after his resignation in 1947, and the formal colour portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, taken in a drawing room of Buckingham Palace in 2007. In between is a collection that seems like a family album of the creative and powerful of our times.
