Artistic photography around the 1900s

November 14, 2013

Inspirations – Interactions: Pictorialism Reconsidered. A symposium from November 21 to 23 at the Kunstbibliothek in Berlin
Pictorialism represents one of the most multi-faceted chapters of photography history. With an international network, and in dialogue with painting, ambitious amateurs in the last decades of the 19th century and first of the 20th, set about trying to get photography recognized as an art form.

Contributions to pictorialism
With the Ernst Juhl collection as a starting point, the symposium organized by the Kunstbibliotek, and taking place from November 21 to 23, 2013, will deal with the pictorialism movement from today's perspective. Renowned photography historians and museum curators will open up the discussion by offering their own contributions to the theme of pictorialism from a contemporary point of view.
