The show comprises of an extensive selection of works by Susa Templin (born 1965), winner of the International Welde Art Award for Photography 2013. Using photography and collage, the Hamburg-born artist creates her own 'architecture of images' – conceiving both realistic and imaginary spaces.
In Templin's work, photography is her medium and her raw material. She cuts, collages and creates layers of interior shots and urban spaces, constructing the images in either actual rooms or within a 3D model, photographing them continuously. The exhibition at the ZEPHYR Space for Photography also features a 3D installation specifically designed for this show.
The Welde Art Award, established in 1995, is one the most renowned honours in the German Art World. In 2013, the competition was dedicated to photography, with Templin selected from a pool of international entries by an independent expert jury.
