The 2012 winner of the prestigious Leica Oskar Barnack Award has been announced: U.S. Photographer Frank Hallm Day impressed the jury with his series ‘Alumascapes’.
Frank Hallam Day’s winning photo series questions man’s ambiguous yearning to be close to nature. The portofolio was created in the night-time forests of Florida. The U.S. photographer will receive a cash prize of 5,000 Euros, as well as a Leica M9-P camera and lens, worth around 10,000 Euros.
Newcomer Award for Piotr Zbierski
Polish photographer Piotr Zbierski is the winner of the ‘Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award’, and will receive a Leica M9-P for his series ‘Pass by me’. The awards ceremony will take place on 3rd July at the ‘Fotofestivals Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie’ in Arles, Southern France.
