The Swiss National Museum are currently showing the exhibition “C’est la vie. Press Photography since 1940”. Open until May 13th, 2013, it offers an insight into the extensive archives of Switzerland’s once largest press photography agencies – “Presse Diffusion Lausanne” (PDL, 1940–1973), and “Actualités Suisse Lausanne” (ASL, 1954–2000). This fascinating selection encompasses everything from significant events and catastrophes, to celebrity snaps and everyday scenes depicting life in Switzerland, offering a comprehensive overview of press photography. The images – some of which were taken by anonymous photographers – were originally published in magazine reports, as well as in weekly and daily newspapers.
