Helmut Newton in Rome: From 6 March to 21 July 2013, the exhibition ‘White Women’, ‘Sleepless Nights’, ‘Big Nudes’ will be showing at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome.
The 200 photographs were selected from Newton's first three legendary publications, and were never shown together during his lifetime. Blurring the boundaries between fashion and nude photography, many of the images went on to achieve iconic status.
About the photographer:
Helmut Newton (1920-2004) was one of the world's most sought-after photographers in the areas of fashion, advertisement, portrait and nude photography. Working for Australian Vogue for a large part of his career, Newton was already 56 years old when his first photography book, ‘White Woman’, was published in 1976 – receiving the Kodak Photobook Award shortly after its release.
