Lawrence Schiller: A Splash of Marilyn

September 18, 2013

From 5 October to 9 November 2013, the Melilli Mancinetti Gallery in Berlin presents the exhibition "A Splash of Marilyn" with photographs by Lawrence Schiller
On 5 October, a new gallery for contemporary photography and painting opens in Berlin. For their opening exhibition, the Melilli Mancinetti Gallery will be showing "A Splash of Marilyn" by legendary New York photographer Lawrence Schiller (born 1936). Twenty-five photographs in black and white as well as colour offer a look behind the scenes of Monroe's last and uncompleted movie, "Something’s Got to Give".

Just months before her death, Monroe gave Schiller his big career break. When he arrived at the set of "Something’s Got to Give" in 1962, the 25 year old already knew the actress, having previously met her on the movie set of "Let's Make Love" (released in 1960). Still, nothing could have prepared the young photographer for Marilyn's nude poolside shoot on the set of "Something’s Got to Give".
