Pulitzer Prize

Share:

Javier Manzano has won the Pulitzer Prize in the category of "Feature Photography". As well as being considered one of the most prestigious awards in journalism, the prize also carries the sum of 10,000 US dollars.

Manzano was working as a freelance photographer for news agency Agence-France Presse (AFP) when he took the winning photo of two Syrian rebel soldiers. Commenting on their decision, the jury described it as "an extraordinary picture...of two Syrian rebel soldiers tensely guarding their position as beams of light stream through bullet holes in a nearby metal wall."

The winners of the category "Breaking News Photography" are Rodrigo Abd, Manu Brabo, Narciso Contreras, Khalil Hamra and Muhammed Muheisen, for their convincing reports on the civil war in Syria.
