From 2014 onwards, the winner of the annual Leica Oskar Barnack Award (established in 1979) will receive a monetary prize of 10,000 euros, along with a Leica M set-up to the value 10,000 euros. Also, the Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award – aimed at photographers under the age of 25 – will now carry a monetary prize of 5,000 euros. The winner of this category also receives a Leica M with lens.
For the first time in the award's history, a third category will be introduced – the Leica Oskar Barnack Audience Award. A jury will select a shortlist of entries to be presented on i-shot-it.com, where the winner will be determined via public voting. The winner of the Audience Award stands to receive 2,500 euros. All those who have participated in the voting will be entered into a prize draw for compact cameras.
