Book signing with David Goldblatt – 3 May, 6:00 p.m at the ICP Store New York.
The ICP Store in New York will be hosting a book signing evening by renowned photographer David Goldblatt on Friday 3 May. His influential photo book ‘On The Mines’ was first published in 1973, presenting a groundbreaking exploration of the world of South African mining in the 1960s. This new edition has been extensively re-designed and expanded. It also features an essay on the human and political dimensions of mining in South Africa by Nobel laureate Nadine Gordimer.
Recipient of the ICP Infinity Award “Cornell Capa Lifetime Achievement”
David Goldblatt was born 1930 in Randfontein, South Africa. He has recently received the ICP Infinity Award in recognition of his life's work as a photographer, as well as his commitment to supporting disadvantaged youths in South Africa.
Author Nadine Gordimer was born 1923 in Springs, also a South African mining town. She was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1991.
