New Art in Salzburg

October 3, 2013

The Museum of Modern Art Rupertinum/Salzburg will be showing highlights from their Fine Art Photography Collection – open from 5 October 2013 to 12 January 2014
Owned by Bank Austria as part of their FOTOGRAFIS Collection, the Fine Art Photography Collection has been on permanent loan with the Museum of Modern Art in Salzburg since 2009. Having first exhibited the complete collection five years ago, the museum is now presenting two-hundred of its most significant works. Spanning the mid-nineteenth to mid-twentieth century, the photographs are considered highlights of international photographic history. An accompanying book on the selected images – the first extensive publication on the subject – will complement the exhibition.

Viewers will be taken from early documentary photography and the Pictorialism of the turn of the century, to the collection's main focal points – New Objectivity, surreal imagery and unique examples of American photography.
