The festival for contemporary documentary photography, FOTODOKS, will take place for the seventh time in Munich from 16 to 20 October 2019. This year the exhibitions and workshops focus on France. The festival takes place bi-annually and has since established itself as the largest festival of its kind in Germany.

The exhibition “Vis-à-vis” will open on October 16, 2019 at 6 pm in Munich. The curator team presents a selection of photographic positions which sheds light on economic, social and socio-political power structures. The works of the 15 invited photographers, like Mathieu Asselin, Rebecca Sampson and Daniel Chatard, research intrigues of major corporations and follow traces which depict postcolonial, imperialistic and capitalistic structures. The contemporary documentary photography, following its tradition, expresses the diversity in thought and actions as well as individual strategies of empowerment in Europe and far beyond.

After the festival the exhibition will remain open to the public until 24 November 2019.
