Michel Comte in Vienna

Born in Switzerland in 1954, photographer Michel Comte is a master of spontaneity, transformation and composition, who is always looking out for new challenges. His career spans more than three decades, during which he has photographed film stars, super models, the greats of jazz and art, as well as people in conflict areas around the world. Comte is just as alert and curious on the red carpet at film festivals or in luxury hotels, as when he moves through the war-ravaged ruins of Afghanistan or Bosnia.

The exhibition at the Kunst Haus in Vienna, presents the fundamental stages of Comte's creativity, divided into various groups and themes. The first part covers his world famous portraits, fashion and commercial pictures, as well as the nudes, that he has been producing since 1979. With the 'making of' a commercial campaign and material from Comte's archives, the second part offers a glimpse at the work that goes on behind the scenes. A third segment is dedicated to Comte's involvement with charitable institutions.
