A special birthday gift: Ten years ago, Meister Camera, the world's first Leica branch, opened in Hamburg. It was shortly followed by branches in Berlin and Munich. To celebrate this anniversary, a special limited edition camera has been issued – the Leica M9P Masterpiece. On 19th July 2012, at 15.00, the model will be officially introduced into the Leica Stores of Hamburg, Berlin and Munich.
The special edition is limited to just 50 pieces of this robust reportage camera, which will now include a wide-angle lens. It features a matte-black chrome plating and a leather trim in steel grey. The majority of the legending will be grey, instead of white. The edition also includes a detachable, shock-proof metal lens hood, which has been especially designed for its aspheric Summicron-M 28mm f/2 lens. The price for Masterpiece is around 12,000 Euros. There is even an opportunity for philanthropy with the purchase of Masterpiece No1: This model will be auctioned at the WestLicht Photographica Auction in Vienna, the proceeds will be donated to the organisation 'Reporters Without Borders'.
