Born 1952 in Epsom, Surrey (GB), Martin Parr’s sharp view of the world makes him one of the most significant documentary photographers of our time.
Since the mid-seventies, Parr’s work has been turning the spotlight on social realities such as consumerism, tourism and national identity. With great wit, he highlights the ordinary, extreme and abysmal aspects of everyday life. The multi award-winning photographer is a member of the renowned photography agency Magnum.
“Souvenir” collates twelve series – including Last Resort, Bored Couples, Think of England, Small World, and Luxury – offering a comprehensive overview of Parr’s work both as a photographer and a film maker. In addition, films about the artist, as well as curious objects from Parr’s collection of mementos will also be on show. Curators’ talks as well as workshops complete the exhibition programme.
