Right now the situation in Ukraine is getting increasingly dire; but there is no mention of it in Peter Dammann’s reportage.

In the late nineties the former social worker embarked on a long-term project focussing on young Ukrainian boys for whom boxing is a means to get ahead in the world.

Back then, Klitschko brothers Vitali and Wladimir were great examples of another kind of lifestyle, a potential that will remain attractive for some time to come especially if tensions in the country relax.

The reportage will appear 4th of April, in LFI 3/2014.
