THE ART OF PLATINUM PRINTING

May 27, 2014

Up until July 12, the Bernheim Fine Art Gallery in Lucerne is presenting a group exhibition of museum quality
The exhibition is a continuation and expansion of the Platinum group exhibition presented in Munich in 2013. On display are outstanding 20th and 21st century photographic artists, whose work has be printed by hand with the special platinum technique. Included are works by Horst P. Horst, Sebastian Copeland, Douglas Kirkland, Len Prince and Gregor Törzs, among others.

In the exhibition, platinum works by the English-born photographer, adventurer and environmentalist Sebastian Copeland will be shown for the first time. Copeland took pictures of unique motifs during his expeditions to the Arctic, Antarctic and Greenland: the landscapes captured gain even more mystical depth thanks to the platinum printing process.

Artist Gregor Törzs, who will attend the exhibition's vernissage, specializes in this particular technique at his studio in Berlin. He considers the process, as well as the paper he chooses for each piece of work, as an integral part of his art.
