Leica Camera AG has achieved first place in this year's ranking list of the most successful luxury manufacturers in Germany. The list is based on joint input from Ernst & Young, the Munich Business School and the INLUX Institute for Luxury. The conclusion was reached in the 2013 Luxury Business Report, that carries out a yearly study of Germany's top 50 luxury brands, and was announced at the Luxury Business Day Conference in Munich.
In addition to the ranking – which was based on objective criteria such as size and pricing, as well as an evaluation by a jury of experts –, the conference also reported on the results of a customer survey on the on-line activities of luxury brands. According to the survey, the willingness of customers to purchase on-line continues to grow, including in the luxury segment. “This shows that the significance of the luxury brands' commitment to online activities and social media is growing,” Dr. Andre Bookhagen of the Munich Business School that carried out the survey, explains.
