Enda Bowe, Garrod Kirkwood and Pat Martin are the three finalists for the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2019. Organised by the National Portrait Gallery, London, the prestigious award has been sponsored by the international law firm Taylor Wessing since 2008.
In his series ‘Love's Fire Song’, Irish photographer Enda Bowe investigates the challenges and aspirations of young people in Belfast. Garrod Kirkwood captured a family who is setting out on a holiday adventure – resulting in an image which the British photographer describes as a “cinematic scene from real life”. American photographer Pat Martin was shortlisted for his portrayal of his late mother, who struggled with addiction issues throughout her life.
The exhibition is on display at the National Portrait Gallery in London from November 7, 2019 to February 16, 2020.
