From 6 June to 6 October 2013, Kunst Haus Vienna will pay homage to Linda McCartney's photographic oeuvre.
Kunst Haus Vienna celebrates the oeuvre of Linda McCartney, one of the most intriguing female photographers of the twentieth century, by presenting the world's first comprehensive retrospective of her work. The exhibition encompasses her iconic portraits of the sixties rock and roll scene, as well as images of family life and nature photographs.
Her fascination for the medium of photography, its history and its processes, inspired McCartney to experiment with techniques from the early days of photography – as illustrated by her portraits of Willem de Kooning, Gilbert and George, Jim Jarmusch and Allen Ginsberg.
Photographs of animals, plants, landscapes and still lifes – presented as platinum prints, sun prints and Polaroids – as well as a documentary section with contact sheets, videos and other original material complete the exhibition, offering a well-rounded insight into the lifework of a passionate photographer.
