Is there a connection between myself and my surroundings? Is the observer the one who is being observed? Media artist Wolf Nkole Helzle explores the relationship between the individual and the wider community, and has created the social media art project 'I am we_interactive image'.
The international platform encourages users world-wide to keep a photographic diary which can become part of a communal work of art. This is how it works: Each day, users take one photo of their everyday surroundings, and upload it to the platform – which also enables them to look at other diaries and make contact with other participants. On the website, they will meet with a small surprise: Their own image becomes part of an ever-changing mosaic made up of 2116 individual diary uploads: I am we!
