Today, Leica has published the first official samples of pictures taken with the M (Typ 240). While the photographs by Jonathan Slack and Christopher Tribble were taken with cameras loaded with non-final versions of the firmware they give a good indication of what the new M will be capable of, including its performance at ISO settings up to 6400. For close scrutiny by prospective buyers, both full-resolution JPEG and DNG files are available for download from Leica’s website. Even more photographs by Jonathan Slack and some comments on the new M are available on the L•Camera Blog. Leica’s engineers are still evaluating feedback from the ongoing beta test and refining the firmware, but the still unspecified shipping date appears to draw near.
