A “Fedrigoni” special edition X2

February 6, 2014

An overall work of art made up of packaging, content and price
The outcome of a collaboration between Italian fine paper manufacturer Fedrigoni, Leica Camera AG, the Geometry Global Agency and Edelmann packaging specialists, was revealed on February 5, 2014: it is probably the first camera in the world with a covering made out of paper.

The protagonist is the Leica X2, and a special edition of 25 numbered copies, with a skin made of Fedrigoni's shimmering pearly paper “Constellation Jade”, has been produced.

The paper stood up excellently to all of Leica's quality control requirements, including resistance to quick and slow temperature variations between -40° and +70° C, an acetone test, and over 400 abration passes. So much for the product's originality and look.

The icing on the cake is the extremely complex packaging designed by Geometry Global and produced by Edelmann with Fedrigoni paper – a delightful feast of typography and graphic design. The complete work of art is available for a selected target group at the price of 3900 euros.
