Leica Camera AG takes over the majority share of the Leica Shop and WestLicht Auction House in Vienna
Leica Camera has purchased close to a 75 percent share in Peter Coeln GesmbH, Vienna. The purchase of two Leica stores and the Westlicht Auction House in Vienna is part of the deal. Both parties have agreed to remain silent about the financial details of the agreement. Peter Coeln will continue to act as business manager for Peter Coeln GesmbH.

The Leica Shop that Coeln founded 23 years ago was the first of its kind, specialising in collector pieces, used equipment and new merchandise produced by Leica. Over the past years, the company has built up an excellent reputation as being a competent buyer and seller of historic cameras and photographs, and has a comprehensive stock of vintage cameras and accessories in its warehouse.

The auctioning of historic cameras is carried out by the largest, camera auction house in the world, WestLicht Photographica Auction. Over the years, many record prices have been achieved for cameras, including the world record for the most expensive camera ever sold: a Leica 0 series from 1923 (2.16 million euro).
