OSKAR BARNACK AWARD in Salzburg

Leica Gallery Salzburg presents the works of Oskar Barnack Award winners Evgenia Arbugaeva and Ciril Jazbec, open from 28 February to 12 April 2014
The works of Oskar Barnack Award winners Evgenia Arbugaeva and Ciril Jazbec will be showing at the Leica Gallery Salzburg from 28 February to 12 April.

Evgenia Arbugaeva was awarded the Oskar Barnack Prize 2013 for her series Tiksi, a portrayal of the Siberian small town she grew up in. Ciril Jazbec received the Newcomer Award for Waiting to Move, a reportage on the Inupiat people of Shishmaref, Alaska.

Leica Gallery Salzburg now presents both series in a joint exhibition. Aside from both location's close proximity to the North Pole, the two projects could barely be more different: Tiksi transports us into a fairy-tale landscape amidst the eternal ice, while Waiting to Move is a forthright documentary showing the effects of climate change on a society caught between tradition and modernity.
