With the new Leica S Adapter H, Hasselblad's H system lenses can be used in combination with the Leica S2. The adapter offers the full functionality of the S2 and H lenses: autofocus, automatic program modes and the H central shutter. Combined with the S2, this last feature reaches a shutter speed of 1/750 of a second. Alternately, the S2 focal plane shutter can be used with up to 1/4000 of a second.
Thanks to the new adapter, S photographers now have the range of H lenses at their disposal. At the same time, it offers Hasselblad photographers the opportunity to work with a Leica S2, without having to write off their investment in lenses. The combination was tested by Swiss photographer Thomas De Monaco, a long-time Hasselblad user, even before it went on the market. De Monaco experimented with the new adapter, taking three stills of elven-like, flowery dresses for Leica and LFI. “The Leica is an alternative for me insofar that it supports my already direct and unadorned photographic style,” he said after the photo shoot.
The Leica S-Adapter H is expected to be on sale this autumn, 2012, for 1500.- euros.
