The ‘Deichtorhallen’ in Hamburg was the venue for Wedensday’s Lead Awards 2012 ceremony, a German award for newspapers, magazines and online media.
American Pete Souza won the category ‘Photograph of the Year’ for the image of Barack Obama and his closest advisors, as they were witnessing the killing of Osama bin Laden live on screen. Paolo Pellegrin was awarded Gold in the category ‘Journalistic Photo of the Year’. This year’s ‘Portrait Photograph of the Year’ award went to Donald Weber.
For Walter Pfeiffer, photography started out merely as an aid for his drawings – now he is a sought-after photographer. The Lead Academy honoured him with Gold in the category ‘Mood and Fashion Photograph of the Year’.
The exhibition ‘Visual Leader 2012’ is still showing all winners photos until the 26th August in the Deichtorhallen, Hamburg.
