In the context of Cologne's New Talents Biennale, the SK Cultural Foundation is currently showing the works of up-and-coming artist Pia Pollmanns. The exhibition, titled 'was bleibt' (That which Remains) will be on display until 31 August 2014.

Archives are places where information is stored and knowledge is made accessible – in many ways, they represent our cultural memory. Today, tangible documents are increasingly transformed into digital data, resulting in the gradual disappearance, and uncertain future, of analogue archives.

On the threshold to this digital age, Pia Pollmanns' documents the current condition of our archives. Her main focus is on the challenges these changes have brought to today's archives, as well as the difficulties they will have to face in future. Pollmanns' work is a plea for the conservation and the utilisation of analogue archives, and represents the artist's stance against the current trend to close traditional archives due to a lack of money and space.
