Congratulations!

On the occasion of her 80th birthday on September 2, the Photographic Collection/SK Stiftung Kultur in Cologne sent photographer Hilla Becher their very best wishes. “We truly appreciate Hilla Becher as a person and look forward to her contagious enthusiasm, her enormous vigour, her clarity and her unfailing good eye, each time we meet her,” says Gabriele Conrath-Scholl, manager of the Photographic Collection/SK Stiftung Kultur.

Productive collaboration
The Photographic Collection/SK Stiftung Kultur and Hilla Becher have enjoyed close to 20 years of productive collaboration. In 1995, she and her husband, Bernd Becher (who passed away in 2007), began a cooperation to secure and overhaul a significant portion of the Becher archives.

Multi-award winners
Together with her husband, Hilla Becher has received many distinguished prizes, including the Goldene Löwe for Sculpture at the 44th Biennial in Venice (1990), the Erasmus Award (2002), and the Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography (2004).
