The 'Das Auge des Arbeiters' exhibition will continue to run at the Käthe Kollwitz Museum in Cologne, up until October 12, 2014.
The presentation offers a glimpse into daily life and work culture in the 1920s and 1930s, including private photographs as well as pictures deliberately published by the press.
In addition to a certain number of pictures taken by amateurs, the exhibition includes artistic photographs by Walter Ballhause and Albert Hennig, as well as political photo-montages by John Heartfield. With their specific “view from below”, the pictures present a unique focus on the behaviour of the Weimar Republic up until the war years.
