On November 3rd and 4th, 2012, Frankfurt gallerist Werner Lorke will be curating the first exhibition of photographs by rock icon Lou Reed, consisting of large format images taken from Reed’s latest book “Rimes – Rhymes”. The legendary artist will be personally present at the opening on November 3rd.

Musician and guitarist Lou Reed is famous for his musical career, as founding member of Velvet Underground, as well as singer-songwriter – amongst others for his collaboration with Metallica on the album “Lulu”. In his photographs, the artist shows his more reserved and contemplative side in the way he observes moments and scenarios. His photographs – often featuring other-worldly colours and sometimes motion blur  – are displayed without any information about where or when they were taken, allowing the images themselves to be the sole object of attention. For Reed, a scene observed through the viewfinder represents a divine theater production – which, according to the artist, even God himself would want to capture only with a Leica.
