‘Cities Unknown’, a new exhibition by renowned architectural photographer HG Esch, is showing at Munich’s Henn Gallery from 21st June to 20th September 2012. His work documents the homes of billions of people, faceless cities and smog-filled streets. The series was created using the Leica S system.
Photo series ‘Cities Unknown’
Eastern Asia’s megacities are growing indeterminately and at a rapid speed, sometimes with a population of over two billion, with names like Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Wuhan and Chengdu. The enormous scale and speed of their growth leave no room for ‘architecture’ as we know it.
The opening on 21st June will be attended not only by the artist himself, but also by Managing Director of Leica Camera AG, Dr. Andreas Kaufmann.
