In collaboration with Parisian leather accessories manufacturer Hermès, and Walter de Silva, head designer at Volkswagen AG, Leica has now produced the third special “Edition Hermès”. While Hermès is responsible for the fine, ochre-coloured, calf leather covering, de Silva has ensured the casing's unique and minimalistic look. He omitted the frame selector lever and the accessory shoe, paying particular attention to the design of the shutter release and the multifunction wheel.
The limited edition is available in two variations:
Edition Hermès – Set One
Set One includes an “Edition Hermès” Leica M9-P with Summilux-M 1:1.4/ 50mm Asph lens. The edition is limited to 300 copies and the price is 20,000.- euros.
Edition Hermès – Set Two
In addition to the leather-bound M9-P body, the second “Edition Hermès serie limitée Jean Louis Dumas” set includes Summicron-M 1:2/28 mm Asph, Noctilux-M 1:0.95/50 mm Asph and Apo-Summicron-M 1:2/90 mm Asph lenses, as well as the first, hand-made leather camera bag manufactured by Hermès. The set also comes with a book of photographs by former Hermès boss Jean Louis Dumas, who passed away in 2010. The price for Set 2 is 40,000.- euros.
