From June 21 to October 26, 2014, the Sprengel Museum in Hanover is presenting the exhibition "The Little Brown Mushroom Ping-Pong Reading Room" by Alec Soth and friends. Born in America in 1969, Alec Soth is one of the most influential photographers of his generation. His comprehensive pictures series – taken mostly with large-format cameras, but also with a Leica – focussing on the American Midwest, have significantly impacted the self perception of the United States in recent years.

On the occasion of the LUMIX Festival, Alec Soth and his artist friends, Jason Polan and Anouk Kruithof, set up a reading room especially for the Sprengel Museum in Hanover. You are also allowed to play table tennis there.
