Deichtorhallen Hamburg / Haus der Photographie present an exhibition by French photographer Guy Bourdin, open from 1 November 2013 to 26 January 2014
The exhibition centre Deichtorhallen in Hamburg presents the most comprehensive Guy Bourdin retrospective to date. The exhibition will feature some of the French photographer's most remarkable fashion and advertising campaigns, along with unpublished material from his private archive. In addition, Bourdin's work as a painter as well as his personal notes on films will be shown to the public for the first time. Black and white shots from the fifties are also included, such as portraits of artists and views of Paris, along with Polaroids, sketches, and texts.

The exhibition represents not only an overview of the multi-faceted artist's work, but also offers unique insights into the thought processes of a visionary image maker.

Guy Bourdin (1928-1991) was born in Paris. Working for Vogue magazine and companies such as Chanel, Ungaro and Charles Jourdan, Bourdin had his first photography exhibition at the Parisian 'Galerie 29' in 1952. Today, his works are exhibited in the world's most prestigious venues and museums.
