The first international “Kyotographie” photography festival will run for 24 days in the picturesque Japanese town of Kyoto.
From April 13 to May 6, 2013, very diverse photo exhibitions will be on display at venues such as museums, temples, palaces and designer hotels. For Lucille Reyboz and Ysuke Nakanishi, the organizers of the event, Kyoto – one of Japan's most historically and culturally significant cities – is the perfect setting to introduce past and present images, as well as visions of the future.
In addition to contemporary Japanese photographers such as Eikoh Hosoe and Tadashi Ono, alongside international artists such as Malick Sidibé, Kate Barry and Nicolas Bouviere, the festival prsents a strong focus on the Golden Age of Japanese photography (1860–1875).
