JOEL MEYEROWITZ RETROSPECTIVE

September 24, 2014

From September 27, 2014 to January 11, 2015, the NRW Forum Düsseldorf is presenting a retrospective of the great Leica photographer
Next to William Eggleston and Stephen Shore, Joel Meyerowitz (*1938 in New York) was one of the most significant proponents of American New Color Photography in the sixties and seventies, and is considered a co-founder of street photography. It is the first time that the full scope of the US American photo legend's work is on display in Germany.

In Joel Meyerowitz Retrospective, the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf is presenting over 260 works from different thematic groups produced in over 50 years of creativity, which allow the viewer to make both a photographic and cultural, visual comparison between Europe and the USA. The exhibition runs from September 27, 2014 to January 11, 2015.

The exhibition was curated and organized by Ralph Goertz, director of the IKS, in close collaboration with the city of Düsseldorf and the artist.

You can also see a retrospective of Joel Meyerowitz in the latest issue 7/2014 of LFI.
