Even though the Leica V-lux 4 remains extremely similar to its predecessors in exterior, size, and weight, its developers have managed to increase the light sensitivity of the enormous 25–600 mm zoom by almost two whole aperture stops. The DC Vario-Elmarit 4.5–108mm f/2.8 Asph greatly increases the usability range of this compact super-zoom camera, making it a likely favourite amongst nature photographers. The camera’s new sensor offers higher sensitivity, while the considerably increased resolution of the electronic viewfinder allows for a better overview. The V-lux 4 embodies an enormous and very noticable leap forward from the prior model, given that the combination of its far more light sensitive lens and improved sensor have made it so much more universally usable, even at low light.
Detailed information about the Leica V-Lux 4 is featured in the current edition of LFI (issue 7/2012), which is also available for download in the LFI app.
