For the first time in Europe, the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt is presenting Photographs 1975–2012, an overview of the oeuvre of the US American photographer. The exhibition opens June 20. DiCorcia, born in 1951 and currently working in New York, is one of the most influential photographers of our times.

Between everyday reality and staged compositions
diCorcia's images oscillate between images of everyday instances and detail-rich, staged compositions. The realistic pictures taken with an ostensibly documentary eye are underlined by the highly complex direction of the images.

Mysterious worlds
"Philip Lorca diCorcia's photographs range from snapshots and compositions, to something like baroque theatrics," says exhibition curator Katharina Dohm. "The presentation at the Schirn offers a unique opportunity for the viewer to dive into the mysterious worlds of this important, contemporary artist, and to get to know his perspective of reality."
