From June 27 to September 15, 2013, the exhibition "Jardins de lumière" with works by Jacques Cousin will be on display at the Centre Iris in Paris. Photography has already taken Cousin, born in 1958, to many countries. Above all, he travelled in Europe and the Middle East, and his reportages usually focussed on social issue. In 2010 he slowed down, following a wish to take a closer look at the medium itself.
Colodion wet plate photography
In 2011 he travelled to Tunisia. Equipped with a dark room made of wood and some glass plates, he tried out the historic colodion wet plate photography technique. The "Jardins de lumière" series that emerged as a result of that journey deals with the documentary aspect of photography, with a very personal, deliberately slow-paced approach.
