The Robert Morat Gallery in Hamburg is currently showing the Leica photographer's project "Son" – open until 11 January 2014
The widely acclaimed series "Son" by American Magnum photographer Christopher Anderson was also awarded the German LEAD AWARD 2013.

Born 1970 in Canada, Anderson now lives and works in New York. He first became known for his documentary work in conflict zones all over the world, and has been a member of the renowned Magnum Agency since 2005.

The birth of his son in 2008 became a catalyst for this personal project: "For many years I have travelled extensively to document the emotional experiences of others", Anderson explains. "Then shortly after the birth of our son, after the intense joy of new life, my father was diagnosed with lung cancer. It is fair to say that I found myself reflecting on obvious themes of life and death – experiences that are both unique and universal. I think this series of photographs is my most important work. They are a record of love and a reflection on the seasonal nature of life."

An extensive portfolio on the photographer was featured in LFI 8/2011.
