Walter Niedermayr

January 24, 2014

From January 25 to March 8, 2014, the Galerie Nordenhake in Berlin is presenting "Oberflächen", an exhibition by the Italian photographer
In his fourth exhibition at the Galerie Nordenhake in Berlin, Walter Niedermayr (1952) is presenting the latest works from his on-going Alpine landscapes series. After taking the pictures for the Aspen series from 2009 to 2011 in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, USA, the multiple-segment series shown in this new exhibition were taken back in the European Alps.

Walter Niedermayr is known above all for his large-format, toned-down photographs of Alpine landscapes, as well as his works dedicated to architectonic spaces, taken in the buildings of the Japanese architects office, SANAA. In all his pieces, the artist's primary concern is the relationship between people and their environment. In his most recent pieces it is seen in the increased exploitation of mountains for recreational activities.
