The Springer Gallery in Berlin presents the exhibition "Water" by Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky – open from 30 January to 15 March 2014
Following the artist's acclaimed exhibition Oil at the C|O Berlin in 2012, the city's Springer Gallery now presents a selection of photographs from Burtynsky's most recent series, Water. The exhibition is organised in conjunction with the Stefan Röpke Gallery in Cologne. The Canadian photographer has released his latest series together with a film titled Watermark as well as his new book BurtynskyWater, making this the artist's biggest project to date.

The series Water illustrates the effects of industry and consumerism on our planet's water resources. Burtynsky also documents the role water plays in our daily lives – showing it as a vital but threatened basis for a healthy eco system, a key element of cultural and religious rituals, as well as a dangerously limited natural resource.

The photographs for this project were created in ten different countries. For his aerial shots, Burtynsky worked with ordinary remote-controlled helicopters and aeroplanes.
