Monique Jacot - Beersheba 1961
The exhibition 'Reportages and Daydreams' will be showing at the Verborgene Museum in Berlin from 9 October 2014 to 1 March 2015, comprising of around 120 works by photographer Monique Jacot.
On the Pulse of the Times
After the Second World War, Monique Jacot (who also worked with a Leica) captured the spirit of the times in her photographs of Europe, the USA, the Soviet Union, China and the Far East.
Social Concerns and Artistic Creativity
Jacot (born 1934) is a photographer of extremes – simultaneously fascinated and repelled by reality. A renowned photojournalist in her home country of Switzerland, she also pursues her penchant for profoundly poetic visual narratives, which she develops in the darkroom using a complex procedure. Jacot continues to walk this tightrope between social commitment and artistic intuition in her work to this day.
