On September 15, Leica photographer Vera Mercer is introducing her book Particular Portraits at 18:30 at Bar Babette in Berlin. The book has been published by DISTANZ Verlag and includes fascinating portraits of artists and other contemporaries, taken over the past fifty years. Among them: Andy Warhol, Marcel Duchamp and Meret Oppenheim.
Other portraits show Samuel Beckett, Eugène Ionesco and Norman Mailer, where the photographer combines things that are normally not combined. People are now added to her still-lifes. A fuller portfolio of her early, theatrical still-lifes can be seen in LFI 5/2010.
