After the War
After the War
December 3, 2013
© Benjamin Hiller
From 6 December 2013 to 26 January 2014, Stadtgalerie Mannheim will be showing photographs of Syria by Benjamin Hiller, many of which were taken with a Leica M9 borrowed from the LFI camera loan pool.
Alongside Hiller's photographs, the exhibition – titled After the War – also includes works by Günter Brus, Izudin Porovic and Walter Raum.
Together, the photographers address the concept of creating images of war, highlighting the poignant question of Helping versus Photographing. In the same vein, the viewer must also make a decision – to look at the photographs, or to look away? Stadtgalerie Mannheim have taken a firm stance of their own: to exhibit.
Benjamin Hiller's photographs of the East Syrian city Deir al-Zur are also featured in LFI 4/2013. To order, simply visit LFI
