Saving Africa's photographic heritage

April 16, 2014

From 22 to 25 April 2014, a meeting of experts will take place in Benin, West Africa, to address the issue of Africa's endangered photographic heritage
From 22 to 25 April 2014, international experts from ten different countries will be meeting in the city of Porto-Novo, Benin to discuss the preservation of African photography collections and archives.

Lack of adequate storage facilities, challenging environmental conditions and theft of valuable prints for international resales are a growing threat to Africa's photography archives.

The pilot workshop, titled West African Image Lab, aims to address these issues and develop solutions. The four-day event is organised by Resolution, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Africa's photographic legacy.
